FAKE PATCHES

Patch collecting is a fun and exciting hobby that is unfortunately sometimes ruined by people knowingly selling fake patches.  If you have a picture of a fake patch please send it to us so that we can post it here and help other people from buying a fake patch.  Please send both a picture of the front and the back of the patch.  Also, you can include in the email who you bought the patch from, when and any other relevant information.

There are only subtle differences in these patches.  If you look closely at the "POLICE" across the top, the lettering is slightly different.  The red used is slightly different.  Also, the trillium at the bottom of the crest is different.  The golden leaves surrounding the crest are different, the leaf rolls on the real one.  The symbols within the crest are also slightly different.

Front: The front of the real patch is made from cloth where the fake patch is nylon, the lettering is different, the gold is a slightly different colour.  The lion symbol on the top of the crest is different, with more detail in the fake crest.  The symbols on the crest are also slightly different and the colours in the crest are different.
Back: notice the pattern of the back stitching.  It isn't perfect on the real patch.
